Biological research is multidisciplinary and it is crucial to train new generations of researchers to make them able to face the future challenges in life sciences.
The students of the PhD program in Biology have the opportunity to conduct an original research project under the supervision of an academic member of Department of Biology, monitored by the PhD thesis Advisory Committee.
The availability of advanced equipment and technologies, different and interdisciplinary research programs, a wide spectrum of scientific expertise, enables the PhD studentes to acquire a critical spirit in research, as well as methods of investigation and technology applicable in the various fields of modern biological research. In addition to the research activity, the degree program of the PhD students in Biology is enriched with a large program of courses, seminars, workshops and conferences organized by the Department of Biology and the Polytechnic and Basic Sciences School. In this way, PhD students are introduced to many aspects of basic and applied research and carry out a PhD training course adequate for future job opportunities in academic, industrial or public institutions.
