Traineeship and Thesis activity for the Master Degree in Biology and Ecology of the Marine Environment and Sustainable Use of the Resource (LM 6) AT THE TIME OF COVID – PHASE 2 

 Indications regarding the traineeship and the assignment of the master’s thesis

– Students who have not yet submitted a thesis assignment application

As for students still without thesis assignment, they can make the assignment request by e-mail to the teacher of the chosen subject and then follow the practice indicated to the link here

In case of difficulties in receiving the assignment, students are invited to contact the thesis assignment commission, rossella.digiaimo@unina.it, and the coordinator dicosmo@unina.it indicating 3 preferences (teacher and subject matter).
The commission together with the coordinator will forward the requests to the teachers of the chosen subjects.
If there is no availability, the coordinator will assign the student to another teacher considering however the student preferences.

– Students with assignment – 10 CFU preparatory and thesis – (intra / extramoenia)

As for students who have started by January 2020 and have carried out a period of experimental activity, as soon as possible, they will be allowed access to the laboratories to complete the project started. During the non-access period, it is advisable to identify a smart working activity relating to the experimental activity to be conducted at home on the thesis advisor’s recommendation.

With a certain frequency, the thesis advisor will monitor the student’s activities related to the achievement of the 10 ECTS and the thesis, until the return to the laboratories.

– Students with assignment -10 CFU preparatory and thesis- already occurred in the period February-May 2020 who have not actually started the laboratory activity

Students with 10 ECTS to be obtained and thesis assigned starting from February 2020 will be contacted by their own tutors in order to make an agreement on the activity to be carried out at home that will be an integral part of their thesis work. This activity may consist of:

  • Bibliographic research
  • Statistical analysis of data from scientific works indicated by the advisor or data related to the research activity that is conducted in the advisor’s laboratory
  • Bioinformatics analysis
  • In-depth study of techniques, equipment or experimental methods necessary for laboratory activity.

 –  Students who already attend an internal or external laboratory for the achievement of the 4CFU-preparatory activities for the thesis

As for students who have started by January 2020 and have carried out a period of experimental activity, as soon as possible, access to the laboratories will be allowed to complete the project started. During the non-access period, it is recommended to identify a smart working activity inherent to the experimental activity, to be conducted at home on the advisor’s recommendation.

– Students who in the period of February-May 2020 have requested or are in the process of requesting an internal or external laboratory for the achievement of the 4 ECTS-preparatory activities for the thesis

Students who started attending the laboratory from February 2020 will be contacted by their tutor tutors in order to agree on an activity to be carried out at home regarding the techniques to be acquired for the future thesis work. This activity may consist of:

  • Bibliographic research
  • In-depth study of techniques, equipment or experimental methods necessary for laboratory activity.

BACK IN THE LABORATORY

As for the return to the laboratories either for theses to be carried out in internal laboratories or at external laboratories, the provisions of the Rector and the Director of the Department, or of the related research institutes, will be followed. As soon as there will be the possibility to enter the laboratories, the students will be informed by their advisors and external co-supervisors.
